How much does KEELBLACK cost?

DON’T ASK...... ITS NOT JUST A MATTER OF PRICE…..

That sounds like a bit of a license for us to print money.

It’s not. Counter-intuitively, £10 per litre for one product may well be more expensive than £20 per litre for another.

HOW SO? It all depends on the viscosity and the coverage of the product. The majority of blackings have a coverage rate of between 6 and 10sq m to the litre. That is because they are made from thicker – BUT softer - bitumen. Those products go on more thickly but don’t offer the abrasion resistance of KEELBLACK. By being applied more thickly, they don’t go so far – ergo they cost more per square metre covered.   AND because they are not so tough they will probably require replacing more frequently.

The question you need to ask is HOW MUCH PER SQUARE METRE for one or multiple coats. That will give you a real price comparison to which you need to add the convenience, environmental friendliness and time saved by opting for KEELBLACK. Look at it closely – it’s a no brainer.

PS, if you want to see the comparison between the cost-per-square-metre of quality blackings on the market, their coverage rates, drying times and a host of useful information, contact us and we will send you what we have gleaned from our research.

A LITTLE GOES A LONG, LONG WAY......

"Are you sure that's enough?" is a frequent question from first time users. KEELBLACK is unlike ANY other bitumen. It is super hard AND super thin - open it up for the fIrst time and you will be struck by how liquid it is - that means that it spreads really easily and goes a long way - with abrasion-resistant protection despite the thinness of each coat. A typical 57/ 60ft narrow boat will only need 2 x 5 litre kegs of KEELBLACK to do the sides with three, yes THREE, coats and that will gove you all the protection you need with some left over for future use. If you want to black the bottom of your 60 footer at the same time, you will only need an extra 1 x 5 litre keg. As a result of its viscocity, you will achieve a spread rate of at least 15sqm to the litre. Most other bitumens will have a coverage rate of between 6 and 10 sqm to one litre. That makes KEELBLACK super economical.

SUPER HARD...SUPER EASY...SUPER ECONOMICAL....what's not to like?
